Basic Job Functions:  The Project Development Manager is responsible for developing utility scale solar projects in target markets across the United States. The Manager, Project Development leads all aspects of the project from inception to Notice to Proceed and is primarily responsible for the profit and loss of each project she/he leads. To do so, the associate works collaboratively with cross-functional groups across the company from legal, project finance, origination, real estate, permitting and project engineering.

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management, Engineering, Business, Real Estate or related field is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.

 

Qualifications:

  • Over 5 years of professional experience in the renewable energy industry
  • Proven analytical, project management and quantitative skills
  • Effective organizational, communication and presentation skills
  • Empathy, humility and intuitiveness which will allow the formation of relationships built on trust in the company and with all stakeholders
  • Experience in the renewable energy industry, specifically utility scale solar energy & project development
  • Ability to read and analyze project contracts, permitting documents, real estate contracts and interconnection agreements
  • Ability to handle large amounts of incoming information and re-prioritize tasks daily
  • Competent team-player with problem-solving initiative
  • High-energy, positive attitude with ability to receive constructive feedback
  • Previous software experience such as Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, MS Project, Google Earth, Project and PARLAY

Scope of Responsibilities include:

  • Lead projects to successful completion within budget and schedule
  • Manage multi-disciplinary teams of experts, both employees and consultants, including engineering, transmission, real estate, permitting, finance and accounting
  • Prepare, maintain and be responsible for project budgets
  • Process consultant contracts, scopes of work, invoices and coordinate payment
  • Prepare and present presentations for management and external parties
  • Prepare RFPs for consultants and contractors and manage selection process
  • Travel to project sites and markets to meet with various stakeholders
  • Support responses to off-taker RFPs with input from Candela staff & third-party support
  • Support evaluation and selection of target markets, competitive project areas and points of interconnection, and coordinate with Project Execution team on site selection
