Richard Chatterton

Richard leads BNEF’s research on climate policy risk, as well as European natural gas markets and broader energy commodity trends. Prior to joining BNEF, Richard worked as an investment analyst and project developer for Camco Clean energy, and in corporate finance at Numis Securities. Richard is a CFA Charterholder, has an MSc in Sustainable Energy Futures from Imperial College London, and an undergraduate degree in Physics from the University of Durham.

Camilla Born

Camilla is a Policy Advisor in E3G’s Climate Diplomacy team based at our London office. E3G’s Climate Diplomacy programme focuses on how to construct high leverage political interventions which can shape an ambitious outcome in 2015 and beyond. Camilla has been developing and testing political economy analysis in key emitting countries and working with the climate diplomacy team to translate this into political scenarios for the Paris 2015 Agreement. Camilla’s particular specialism centres on improving climate risk management in the face of escalating climate impacts and accelerating low carbon transition.

From early 2011 Camilla has worked with the UK Youth Climate Coalition (UKYCC), holding the role of director from 2013-2014. In early 2013 she successfully facilitated an informal coalition of organisations to campaign to keep climate change in the UK national curriculum. As part of the UKYCC international team, she organised a large scale youth capacity building summit (COY8) and facilitated the education and climate change working group at COP18 in Doha.

Camilla has a Bsc in Geography from the University of Edinburgh. Alongside her work at E3G Camilla is chair of Hoxton Community Energy and a trustee with Climate Outreach.

Murray Birt

Murray Birt recently joined Deutsche Asset and Wealth Management to join a team working on sustainable finance business opportunities across different asset classes. The position builds on previous four years of work in supporting Deutsche Bank Vice Chairman Caio Koch-Weser, helping implement the Bank’s climate change and sustainability business strategy and supporting his role as a Commissioner in the New Climate Economy initiative.

Previously he worked for four years with the Confederation of British Industry on a variety of UK and EU policies. He has also helped deliver consumer energy efficiency programs and capacity building for Alberta’s domestic carbon market and has consulted for several businesses in Canada on energy efficiency strategies.

Murray has an economics degree from the University of Calgary and a masters degree in environmental change and management from the University of Oxford.

Ilmi Granoff

Ilmi Granoff

Ilmi is a Senior Research Fellow at ODI leading the institute’s work on green growth. He is an attorney with over 15 years of experience and expertise in environmental law and policy, sustainable development, energy and infrastructure finance and public-private partnerships.

He recently served as the sole environmental and climate counsel at the African Development Bank, where he advised the bank’s management, and was responsible for all legal issues related to climate, environmental and social matters for the bank’s portfolio throughout Africa. He also advised the Bank on various issues related to its multilateral climate funds, including the structuring of the Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa. He continues to advise the bank’s Climate & Environment Department on integration of green growth principles in the bank’s strategy, operations, and policy support to member countries. Prior to this, he served for five years as an associate in the energy and infrastructure finance practice of the international law firm of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, providing commercially practical legal advice to governments, banks, companies and multilaterals.

Ilmi’s practice focused on clean energy transactions and public private partnerships. Ilmi has researched and published on sustainable development, international law, and conservation, particularly in Latin America. Ilmi holds graduate degrees in environmental science and international relations from Yale University, and received his juris doctor from New York University School of Law. He holds a bachelor’s degree (High Honors) from Swarthmore College.
