Viridity Energy proudly hosted the Philadelphia Chapter of Young Professionals of Energy (YPE) for a tour of their Network Operations Center (NOC). Viridity develops battery energy storage projects & software for utilities and energy consumers to interact proactively and productively with the electric grid to minimize electricity costs.
Battery storage has been particularly newsworthy of late with FERC recently issuing orders on grid-operator compliance filings for Order 841 to remove barriers for electric storage resources to participate in all RTO/ISO markets. In the PJM electricity grid alone that stretches throughout the mid-Atlantic region, nearly 14.6 gigawatts of storage and combined storage capacity is scheduled to come online by 2024.
