YPE DEN Talk – September 2023

Join us for our September DEN Talk on September 14th from 5-7PM with light snacks and beers provided.

Location: 1999 N Broadway, 32nd Floor. No key card is required, but there are TWO elevators to take to get to the 32nd floor. Don't overthink it.

Our speaker Terri Livermore, The Office of Just Transition (OJT) Policy and Engagement Manager, will discuss the process of updating their Action Plan that will have a component addressing disproportionately impacted communities in the energy industry.

The Colorado Office of Just Transition assists communities and workers transitioning away from the mining and burning of coal as an energy source. The dual goals are to: 1) assist communities in retaining and developing family-sustaining jobs, broadening their property tax base, and increasing economic diversity, and 2) help coal industry workers transition to new family-sustaining jobs, relocate, or retire, so as to maintain their economic security in the manner that best suits each individual and their family. The Office works with an Advisory Committee and is guided by an Action Plan that is getting updated in 2023.

Speaker Bio: Terri is the Policy and Engagement Manager in the Office of Just Transitions where she works with state and federal partners on regulatory, funding, and public policy issues regarding the transition away from coal based energy. Prior to OJT, Terri was the executive and policy director of Nourish Colorado, a food system change non-profit and also spent over two decades lobbying the state legislature. Terri was born and raised in Gunnison Colorado and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Colorado College. When not working, she can be found cycling with her husband Michael, swimming, reading, or hanging out with their two dogs, Loki and Teller.
