Helen Currie is the Senior Economist for ConocoPhillips Corporation. She manages strategic planning initiatives, oversees the company’s long range plan development, and advises on investment analyses, political risk and scenario planning.   Her previous roles since joining Conoco in 2001 include Upstream and Downstream business analysis, leadership roles in Commercial risk management across all commodity groups (crude, refined products, NGLs, natural gas, power), Commercial risk systems project management and designing a front-to-back office training program for the Commercial organization.  From 2007-2010, Dr. Currie was with BG Group where she built and led the Americas Market Fundamentals research team which supported strategic planning, business development and trading.   Prior to joining Conoco, Dr. Currie was on faculty at Elon University and LaGrange College, teaching and advising in their M.B.A. and undergraduate finance and economics programs.  Her academic research focused on mortgage backed securities valuation and financial institutions management.  Earlier in her career, she was an Economic Analyst with the State of Washington’s Department of Ecology where she conducted Economic Impact Studies and Small Business Economic Analyses for environmental regulations.


A financial economist by training, she holds a Ph.D. in finance from Mississippi State University, a M.A. in economics from the University of Washington, and a B.A. in economics from Millsaps College
