Summary:
The Manager will be responsible for determining and assuring consistent methodology, assigning inputs, overseeing the data input of the team and some direct data input. He/she is expected to take initiative in independently identifying and solving complex problems related to data, methodology, and database structure and interface. The Manager will manage a small team of junior to mid-level colleagues and is expected to utilize the team’s knowledge to provide correct and timely data, information and analysis to clients. The Manager will be a core member of the team and expected to provide Project level expertise and to support broader level deliverables, as well as productive cooperation and communication with his peers leading other databases, projects or products. The Global Project Database provides a view of major international and Gulf of Mexico Oil and Gas development projects and is comprised of partnership, cost, reserve, and production data. The Manager will be involved with the evolving process of aligning the Herold project outlooks with the broader IHS supply project outlooks going forward.

General Job Duties:
• Oversee the methodology for generating project by project output projections
• Distribute assignments, quality control, and supervise work output of colleagues on the team
• Evaluate projects for consistency in research methodology
• Assist in the ongoing development of the Database and work closely with IT developers to ensure functionality and friendly interface for clients
• Respond to client requests and questions. Solicit client feedback and use it to improve current deliverables, or, develop new deliverables or capabilities
• Active involvement in the evolving process of aligning the Herold project outlooks with the broader IHS supply project outlooks going forward


Specific Job Duties:
Act as the subject matter expert and go-to person for the database and assigned discipline. Support researchers and client activities and work flows by producing deadline-driven, quick-turnaround updates of all the information and analysis. Maintain the database by using developed knowledge and initiative and a variety of resources, provide suggestions for additional useful content and value added information to help ensure timely and accurate responses to client questions. Support the continued flow of crucial thought-leading research on topics in your discipline, as promised to the clients.

Build the database and provide analysis that contributes to research reports and presentations by carefully combing through industry periodicals and external data sources; process, synthesize and integrate diverse inputs at an advanced level to create organized and user-friendly data bases and support accurate, insightful and in-depth retainer research.

Contribute to consulting projects as required and as driven by business needs by working in collaboration with the consulting project leader, digging data, creating spreadsheets and graphics, and providing subject matter expertise in areas of assigned disciplines to support delivery of high-quality client-specific projects.

Respond to client questions related to the database by providing deep subject matter expertise and timely insight and utilize available resources and judgment to provide customer delight. When necessary, refer questions to senior level staff in a timely manner.

Continuously develop SME in your practice or focus area and expand knowledge into related disciplines by actively contributing to above listed activities and pursing activities/work in various disciplines and staying abreast of current/hot topics and contributing to written/published products to broaden and build upon subject matter knowledge.

Manage a small team of junior to mid-level colleagues and continuously develop managerial knowledge, skills and competencies by actively working with senior level management and participating in various people-management activities - such as hiring, performance management, discipline, coaching/mentoring, training/development to effectively manage and develop colleagues to our high performance culture, to establish and maintain an environment conducive to teamwork, and continuously develop own skills in people management.

Job Requirements

Skills
Required Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years directly related experience traditionally acquired by working in industry, government, or consulting
• Any equivalent combination of experience and education.
Computer Skills
Other skills:
• Must have the ability to work independently with limited supervision and have solid problem-solving, judgment and decision-making skills for activities of moderate complexity.
• Demonstrated skills and competencies to manage 1 to 3 junior to mid-level colleagues
• Requires a keen attention to detail and highly effective organization and prioritization skills including the ability to stay on task and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.
• Requires highly effective verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills at all levels of business to enable effective and productive communications with key people including senior level clients.
• Proficiency with MS applications required (Excel, Word and PowerPoint); experience working with large databases helpful.
• Must be flexible with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with all coworkers and be able to meet the attendance requirements of the position.
