Description

EnerNOC, a leading provider of demand response and energy efficiency solutions, has an immediate need for a Dispatch Operations Associate/Analyst to join our world-class Network Operations organization.  The mission of the Network Operations team is to provide capacity to the grid by reducing our customers’ electricity consumption when requested by the electrical grid operator. We achieve this mission by preparing for, executing, and finalizing demand response dispatches.


The ideal candidate for the Dispatch Operations Associate role will have a basic understanding of the demand response business and a strong desire to become well versed in program rules and dispatch execution protocols. The Dispatch Operations Associate will support the Dispatch Operations team in developing training for dispatches, defining process improvements, providing dispatch management support, and finding ways to add value to EnerNOC’s demand response offering. This individual must possess excellent customer service skills and have the ability to thrive in a flexible, fast-paced team environment.  Further, the ideal candidate will aim to increase operational efficiency by creating ways to streamline operations and communicating those ideas to the Operations and Engineering teams. The Dispatch Operations Associate will become educated in EnerNOC’s core operational processes and will develop a deep understanding of the issues surrounding load curtailment, emergency backup generation, and demand response programs across the nation.


The ideal candidate for the Dispatch Operations Analyst role will have operational experience leading programs with a keen eye for process improvement.  An understanding of the demand response business, program rules, dispatch methods, and execution processes is highly desired. Similar to the Associate role, the Dispatch Operations Analyst must also possess excellent customer service skills and have a proven track record of thriving in a flexible, fast-paced team environment.  This individual should be an expert in EnerNOC’s core demand response operational processes, and will have subject matter expertise within the NOC of the issues surrounding load curtailment, emergency backup generation, and demand response programs across the nation. The Dispatch Operations Analyst will also work to form relationships with Utility and ISO personnel to aid in establishing DR dispatch likelihood and facilitate DR dispatch execution.  While event operations expertise is essential for this role, all Operations staff support our core demand response business as needed, and a desire to participate in this team environment is essential.

 


Key Responsibilities of both positions:


1.Preparing for demand response events:

• Support the maintenance of existing DR programs
• Develop and execute dispatch process training for all teams throughout EnerNOC that participate in demand response dispatches
• Develop training material for 24/7 staff to manage off-hours dispatches
• Support the development and use of primary and redundant tools and processes
• Contribute to cross-functional efforts to ensure a high level of program readiness
• Recommend requirements for system enhancements


2.Executing demand response events:

• Learn and support all dispatch roles, from dispatch manager to performance coach
• Ensure proper dispatch coordination internally to maximize dispatch performance
• Ensure communication of event related information internally in a timely manne


3.Finalizing demand response events and communicating results:

• Communicate post-event summaries to the company
• Capture lessons learned following each dispatch to drive continuous improvements in process, tools, and training
• Ensure all teams complete of post-dispatch activities

• Self-motivation and the ability to work in a fast paced, forward moving environment
• Ability to actively contribute to multiple, concurrent projects
 

 

Desired Qualifications for the Dispatch Operations Associate position:

 

• Experience with energy management, power generation, and related technologies
• Understanding or experience with Six Sigma or other quality improvement methodology
 

 

Required Qualifications for the Dispatch Operations Analyst position:

 

• BA/BS undergraduate degree
• 2-4 years of work experience in an operational role
• Excellent project management skills
• Excellent oral and written communications skills
• Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage high-stress situations calmly and effectively
• Self-motivation and the ability to work in a fast-paced, forward moving environment
• Demonstrated ability to actively manage multiple, concurrent projects
