Core Functions And Responsibilities

This person is responsible for QC analysis and document control processes for a complex food pilot plant operation. Reports to QA manager.  

·     Conduct final product QC testing including microbiological testing, protein characterization, and various physical properties

·     Support document control program including activities such as writing of SOPs, maintaining manufacturing and raw material records, and ensuring traceability 

·     Assist with sanitation program validation and environmental monitoring

Other Functions

·     Maintain a state of inspection readiness - clean, sanitary, organized and safe workplace

·     Participate in internal sensory panels

·     Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

2 - 5 years work experience ideally in the food industry
Skills & Abilities

·     Strong knowledge of microbiology laboratory principles and practices.

·     Strong knowledge of food processing GMP and HACCP requirements.

·     Strong knowledge of Excel.

·     Ability to speak effectively before groups of people.

·     Adaptable and comfortable working across projects and teams.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.  
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. There are typically between 10-20 employees in the lab at any given time. Proper PPE is provided for employees entering the lab or pilot plant. Must be willing to work in and comply to a Food GMP environment. Flexible work hours are sometimes required.
Education Required:B.S. degree in life sciences or a related field
