Project Finance Analyst

The candidate will be a key member of SunEdison's Project Finance team with particular responsibility for (1) supporting financial structuring and closing activities associated with construction and permanent financings and (2) providing financial analysis and underwriting diligence for project origination and business development activities. Core functions involve financial analysis, pro forma modeling, scenario stressing, organizing and managing due diligence, contract negotiation support, and managing internal coordination efforts (including key financial metric tracking, covenant tracking, coordination with accounting, development, power marketing, construction, and operations teams, etc). Analysts will initially be assigned to one of the Project Finance team's primary verticals (Pricing & Analytics, Utility, DG, or Residential), however we expect there will be opportunities for Analysts to work with multiple groups over time. Quantitative / modeling, organization, communication, strategic thinking, and deal closing skills are critical to the role.


  • Support financial modeling and assist with the structuring of debt (construction and permanent) and equity (cash and tax equity)
  • Work directly with lenders/underwriters, equity and JV partners to lead solar project financing due diligence
  • Assist in development of innovative financial structures
  • Support cross-functional closing efforts
  • Review and develop a deep understanding of different transactional structures
  • Support negotiation efforts and documentation finalization
  • Study the intricacies of U.S. federal and state solar incentives
  • Analyze financial results and internally communicate performance and pricing impacts
  • Support sales and power marketing teams on financial analysis of potential projects

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 1-4 years of work experience and prior transactional experience in project finance, asset-backed finance, M&A, investment banking, real estate, or private equity
  • Skills
  • Ability to collaborate across departments within the company and with external advisors to lead project finance diligence and closings
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills in both oral and written English
  • Understanding of accounting and financial statements
  • Ability to effectively operate with high energy and flexibility in a fast-paced, and evolving environment
  • Desire to work for an industry-leading solar company
  • Computer Skills
    Advanced Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
