Operations Planning & Process Manager

EnerNOC has an immediate need for an Operations Manager to lead our Demand Response Dispatch Operations Team. Your mission will be to work collaboratively with a range of functional teams to successfully execute our demand response programs as well as drive holistic efficiency, operator training, and process improvement gains.
By managing a distributed team, this is truly an international leadership opportunity.   The ideal candidate will have a track record of management success, a strong “questioning attitude,” technical aptitude, a penchant for process improvement, fastidious attention to detail, and excellent prioritization skills.
Furthermore, this role demands a strong cultural fit, emotional intelligence, effective communication skills, reporting and quantitative abilities, and experience with the Microsoft Office applications. Finally, this person must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment balancing multiple projects and objectives. 
Key Responsibilities:
1.         Demand Response Operational Delivery. Supervise ongoing operational support for demand response program execution:
  • Work with DR program teams to fully understand and vet operational business requirements
  • Turn DR program business needs into efficient and effective operational process by leveraging an expert understanding of the capabilities/limitations of our systems and people.
  • Develop metrics to measure, report on, and improve our DR operational readiness
  • Work with technical teams to define system improvements to de-risk operations and improve the customer experience
  • Dive into the tactical day-to-day work of individual team members to ensure we are delivering the highest quality outputs
2.         Strategic Process Improvement.  Identify and drive initiatives to revolutionize and scale key operational processes:
  • Dispatch Management - improve efficiency, effectiveness, and the customer experience by implementing automation, building process, and leveraging talent
  • International/New Program Support - support and streamline domestic and international DR program implementation
  • Team Growth - identify opportunities for the team to automate, streamline, or eliminate low-value responsibilities and develop the team to take on higher-value work
  • Financial/contingency risk management - collaborate on and address P&L risks as well as put robust controls in place to mitigate operational risk 
3.         Operator Training. Support the Real Time Operations (RTO) team’s readiness efforts:
  • Leverage your team to generate meaningful and successful program trainings for the RTO for existing and new DR programs
  • Support the Skills Testing and Training process to provide ongoing testing for RTO operators
  • Support all existing defined operator protocols to set the RTO up for successful DR execution and minimize revenue at risk through operator error

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • BA/BS with business or technical focus
  • 3-5 years’ experience in operations management with a demonstrated track record of process improvement, efficiency gains, and managing a high-performing team
  • Experience developing and managing to metrics
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects to accomplish business objectives
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand complex systems
  • A mission-driven, results-oriented attitude
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree
  • Experience applying LEAN or Six Sigma process improvement methodologies
  • Energy industry experience
  • Experience managing a distributed team
  • Experience managing international operations
  • Experience overseeing or being a part of an operations center team

Education Required:BA/BA, advanced degree preferred
