Job Information

The Sierra Club is looking for an Electric Sector Analyst to provide technical support, quantitative analysis, and strategic recommendations for our ground-breaking Beyond Coal campaign. This nationwide grassroots effort to eliminate coal's contribution to global warming no later than 2030 and replace the existing coal infrastructure with a clean energy economy needs a data-driven individual to provide on-going analysis of internal and external factors effecting Campaign strategy, targets, and outcomes.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate is highly motivated and will have a Masters degree with a concentration in environmental engineering or a related field, and working knowledge of quantitative analysis, statistics, economics, and/or finance. Minimum two years of professional experience in research and analysis, and deep content knowledge of the electric sector is key. 
MS, MBA, MPA or comparable advanced degree , or the equivalent combination of education and experience, with concentration in environmental engineering or energy analysis, and working knowledge of statistics, economics and finance.

-- Deep content knowledge of energy sector and one or more cross-cutting components such as environmental engineering, utility economics, integrated resource planning, etc.

-- Familiarity with industry specific data sets and models (i.e. IPM, NEEDS, etc.)

-- 2 years minimum experience in research and analysis and experience training others within context of monitoring and evaluation.

-- Excellent quantitative, analytical, and research skills.

Computer Skills
Expert computer skills, including advanced Excel, Stata, GIS.  Comfort with Access, SQL or other database
