Description
We are seeking an experienced energy efficiency engineer to join the Utility Services Engineering group in our Toronto, ON, Canada office. The following is a representative description of the position’s role and responsibilities. Reflecting the flexible nature of our work, Nexant will adjust this description as necessary to meet operating and strategic needs of its business. • Provide reliable and responsive customer service to Nexant clients • Independently produce high quality deliverables (reports and spreadsheets) with limited quality control review • Conduct on-site energy efficiency assessments, including data collection (such as deploying data loggers) • Build spreadsheets and perform energy savings calculations • Audit and understand spreadsheets created by others, identify shortcomings, suggest corrections • Create energy efficiency models using industry-standard software (e.g., eQuest, EnergyPro, Trane TRACE) • Work independently or with supervision to manage research projects and participate in research efforts, ensuring consistency and quality of research methods • Conduct primary and secondary research • Assist with market characterization studies in energy efficiency • Support evaluation, measurement and verification tasks as necessary • Write reports summarizing assessment results and recommend energy savings opportunities. Document findings visually and/or verbally for memos and reports to clients and/or internal project teams • Meet with clients to present results, recommendations and assist with developing new scopes of work • Support Nexant’s utility services offerings under the direction of the CSPA managers • Support senior staff with development of presentations, papers and proposals • Travel to local client sites • Other duties as directed.

Job Requirements

Experience
• 3-6 years of work experience and/or education within the energy efficiency and energy management field • Energy assessments (including on-site inspections in residential homes, commercial buildings and industrial facilities), analysis of energy data, and/or Measurement and Verification experience is desirable • Experience conducting power metering with data loggers is desirable • Experience in primary and secondary research, and market characterization studies • Experience preparing draft reports detailing assessment and analytical findings • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills • Able to travel up to approximately 20% of the time.
Skills
• An understanding of building systems, energy end uses and equipment, thermodynamics, and heat transfer
Computer Skills
• Excellent computer skills are mandatory • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and Outlook
Education Required:• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or relevant sustainable building practices; Master’s degree is preferred
