We are seeking a talented and driven Associate Product Manager with a strong interest in power markets, specifically wholesale generation economics to continue their career in the power industry. A typical day in the life of an Associate Product Manager at Genscape will include the following:

  • Continuously learning about how generating companies make decisions about how to bid their power plants into markets
  • Maintaining and enhancing the generation bid dataset and tools
  • Providing customer (external and internal) support for existing and future products from this data
  • Identifying new and innovative ways to help customers develop insights and improve their modeling processes using this new product
  • Ensuring the quality of datasets for multiple regions across the US.
  • Developing product specifications for the development team who then turns it into applications
  • Interfacing with prospective customers and the sales force to help sell the bid data product
  • Assisting the sales team with communicating the value of generation bid data to customers through product demonstrations.
  • Developing business use cases for prospective customers.
  • Developing marketing collateral


This job might be for you if:

  • You have a strong fundamental understanding of the electricity markets and especially unit commitment and generation dispatch
  • You are knowledgeable about the wholesale power market and have used power flow simulation or long term planning models that include generation bidding assumptions.
  • You consider yourself to be a quantitative individual with the ability to do thorough analysis on the go.
  • You enjoy interfacing with customers and are skilled at asking questions to identify their pain points
  • Big Data does not bother you and you have past experience organizing it, compiling it, and putting it into a polished product.
  • You are entrepreneurial and have a strong desire and the aptitude to build your own product
  • You are a unique problem solver with a ‘why not’ attitude.


To land this position:

  • The candidate should have extensive data mining knowledge. Statistics knowledge and experience with R or SAS or similar would be a plus.
  • The ideal candidate will understand power plant economics and how companies bid their generating units into the market
  • You will exhibit curiosity and creativity and you get excited by exploring data to find new ways to solve problems for people
  • Ideal candidate will also be fairly proficient with SQL Server databases and knowledge of SQL Server Analysis Server, Integration Services, and MatLab.
  • The candidate is expected to be able to manage his/her work load to fit for the best needs of the company.
  • S/He is also expected to have good communication skills to manage relationships with internal and external clients and resources.
  • Pursuing or holds a MS in mathematics, statistics, engineering or related.
  • Working experience around power plant economics is a plus but not required.
