Yes Energy is hiring for an early career Database Developer to join our team - either in Boston or in Boulder.  As a Database Developer II, in the Data Operations Team, you will apply your analytical skills in several areas including: database development for data collections, client and internal support, and software testing. This position performs both operational work to maintain existing data collections and improve the completeness, correctness, and timeliness of data, and also development work to add new data collections into the Yes Energy database. This position offers candidates an opportunity to develop greater knowledge of energy markets, cloud-based software products, and SaaS businesses, while applying and developing technical, research, and customer-facing skills with one of the most creative and hard-working staff in the industry.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Ingest, clean, normalize, and combine non-uniform data sources through scraping websites, consuming data APIs, consuming FTP feeds, etc.
  • Ensure highest possible completeness, timeliness, quality and integrity of Yes Energy Data
  • Develop and maintain daily processes to monitor for reliability, efficiency, and quality
  • Develop and maintain database stored procedures, views and functions for Yes Energy applications both customer facing and internal
  • Maintain database packages, procedures, views, metadata systems and related internal tools
  • Ensure database Performance through proactive review and analysis
  • Plan and coordinate data migrations between systems
  • Contribute to technical departmental standards in such areas as change control, configuration management, development methodology, and coding standards
  • Support customers with data-related questions
  • Ensure all database systems meet business and performance requirements
  • Creation and maintenance of technical documentation
  • Participate in product release testing
  • Participate in regular data on-call shifts including nights/weekends

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS or BA) with a technical and business focus or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of SQL experience
  • 4+ years of Oracle PL/SQL experience
  • Energy Markets experience preferred

 

Position Details

  • Full-time
  • Reports to the Program Manager of Data Operations
  • Minimal travel may be required (up to 10 days per year)
