The Program Manager helps support the organization in its efforts to empower communities in multiple countries with renewable energy technologies. Individual must be 100% committed to EBL’s mission, passionate about the environment and passionate about solving energy poverty. Individual is culturally sensitive, possessing a collaborative nature, and willing to travel—often to remote areas. Individual is interested in coming in on the ground floor of a nimble and highly-effective organization poised to grow its reach and impact.

Program Manager Job Description:

Assists in overseeing the planning and deployment of projects in designated regions and countries in which Empowered by Light (EBL) operates. Assists with recruiting, selecting, orienting, assigning, scheduling, coaching contractors brought on to help design or install projects; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing projects; coordinating with partner organizations and suppliers; enforcing organization’s policies and procedures.

Achieves operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans and timelines; resolving problems; gathering feedback and usage information.

Helps meet financial objectives by forecasting requirements; helping prepare an annual budget; tracking expenditures; analyzing variances.

Travels to project locations to represent EBL on the ground, including interfacing with and managing on the ground partners and vendors, representing us to the communities we're serving, and recording the visit (with detailed notes, videos and photos).

Assists the Executive Director in fundraising, including but not limited to approaching new potential and existing donors, helping write grant proposals, etc.

Contributes to the vetting and contracting of new partners.

Enhances organization reputation by representing EBL at industry events or conferences, and in meetings with partner organizations as required; accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Enhances organization overall by willingness to assist with other job functions as needed.

Program Manager Skills and Qualifications:

Solid project management skills and experience

Ability to develop, manage and report on budgets

Excellent communication skills including good listening and consensus building skills

Ability to work independently; self-starter with ability to work well on “virtual” teams

Knowledge and/or experience in solar technologies and applications preferred

Collaborative nature with solid ability to multi-task
