The Sr. Manager of Corporate Giving will establish, advance, and realize the fundraising goals of Strategen-managed nonprofit, the Green Hydrogen Coalition (GHC), which has a mission to advance green hydrogen to accelerate the transition to a carbon-free energy system.

The Sr. Manager of Corporate Giving will independently execute sales/contributions and project management activities to meet the fundraising objectives of the GHC from private and public sources. The Sr. Manager of Corporate Giving will be responsible for fundraising from an array of organizations or donors, including new and existing corporate donors, supporting grant funding applications, and identifying new funding methods. A successful Sr. Manager Of Corporate Giving will meet fundraising goals, build lasting relationships with GHC donors that leads to upselling and renewals, independently close high-dollar donors, and develop grant application strategies to win philanthropic foundation funding. This is an external-facing position responsible for building a reputation as a trusted resource and amplifying the brand awareness of the GHC by building a robust industry network. The position works closely with the C-suite, Donor Relations Associate, the Director of Nonprofit Management, and GHC Policy Director, in addition to very high-ranking external parties.

This is a full-time position within Strategen, a professional services firm and the management services provider to the California Energy Storage Alliance (CESA), Green Hydrogen Coalition (GHC), and Vehicle-to-Grid Integration Council (VGIC).  This is a full-time, remote position. Candidates must be US citizens located within the US & have availability to work standard PST hours, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm. Fundraising Outreach

  • Manage external fundraising for new and existing corporate donations to the GHC’s unrestricted fund and initiatives
  • Lead external sales conversations with prospects, communicate the value of the GHC and ultimately close donations in line with internal targets, including custom presentations to executives and a variety of departments (policy, marketing, and business development)
  • Independently manage and execute sales processes that identify, nurture, and acquire new business, including monitoring market activity, performing direct outreach, and maintaining a robust sales funnel
  • Lead market segmentation campaigns to recruit donors by segment to expand representation of key stakeholder groups in line with strategic objectives
  • Develop and apply knowledge of nonprofit tax law to ensure all fundraising activities and messaging are compliant with the GHC mission and 501c3 governance
  • Build a comprehensive understanding of the purpose and value of the GHC, Strategen, and each Strategen-managed nonprofit within the first 60-days of employment
  • Expertly leverage the team (ex. Policy Team, President/Executive Director) to support the close of new business or donations with minimal disruption to the subject-matter expert
  • Build brand awareness for the GHC by acting as an external champion, proactively building your industry network, and attending high-value external events to obtain leads
  • Provide sales support for GHC events, including event sponsorship
  • Identify and internally vet new products that support the nonprofit’s mission and business development goals with the Management Team
  • Travel to industry conferences up to 12 times per year and present at public speaking engagements as needed

Project Management & Fundraising Operations

  • Project manage multiple concurrent sales outreach campaigns, including managing campaigns end-to-end, informing product design through market research, executing sales, monitoring and increasing conversion rate, supporting colleagues in their sales conversations
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to create an overall development strategy that meets fundraising goals
  • Manage grant proposal process, including writing content and coordinating activities of others. Oversee completion of reporting requirements and deadlines pertaining to grant funders
  • Deliver weekly, quarterly, and annual sales metrics that meet the overall development strategy. Provide fundraising reports to GHC leadership, the GHC Board of Directors, and Treasurer
  • Coordinate with Finance Department to monitor collections and set budgets
  • Coordinate marketing activities pertaining to fundraising with the support of the Marketing & Events Teams, such as digital marketing campaigns, the annual Impact Report, and messaging for fundraising collateral
  • Perform sales operations tasks, such as invoicing, status tracking, and seamless handoff of a closed sale to the Donor Relations Associate
  • Manage the business development travel calendar and monitor the ROI of business travel
  • Use Strategen CRM systems for pipeline management, sales reporting, contact information
  • Train Strategen colleagues on the GHC value proposition and be the point person for internal referrals

Education, Experience and Skill

Bachelor’s degree, preferred in a relevant field such as business, communications, marketing, or environmental studies

  • Minimum 8 years of work experience, either through full-employment or a combination of relevant internships
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience managing business development, fundraising, sales campaigns, with preferred experience closing sales and a network in an energy-related field
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in energy and/or clean energy with preferred experience in green hydrogen
  • Demonstrated experience in grant writing success
  • Strong aptitude for numbers and excellent analytical skills with a high level of attention for details
  • Excellent command of business-level written and verbal English communication and demonstrated ability to conduct presentations to prospective and existing clients in a polished and professional manner specifically the ability to concisely articulate technical topics to a non-technical audience
  • Excellent project management skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects accuratelyand meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; Familiarity with customer data management and marketing tools (CRM, social media) and/or design is a plus

  • Commitment to working collaboratively as a member of a team and across departments, including a willingness to seek consensus and share ideas
