Speaker Bios:
Gareth Crisford is a commercially minded technology advocate who enjoys finding the meeting point between cutting edge science and business application. Of particular fascination for the last decade has been the evolution of Earth Observation satellite imaging, where the potential for both technology adoption and information extraction is reaching a crucial tipping point.
Gareth recently joined Earth-i, a satellite imaging start-up based in the Guildford space cluster, to develop customer engagement and become one of the global leaders in the evolution of Geospatial Big Data. Earth-i delivers 2D, 3D and multi-temporal imagery products for a wide variety of verticals, with an emphasis on energy and financial services.
Dan Plant started his career as an energy economist with Brookfield Asset Management, supporting global M&A activity. Now, he is commercialising new technologies in the energy industry--focusing on driving operational and market insights with industrial IoT and alternative data sources. Within these circles, he has led growth at energy tech start-ups in Houston, Calgary and London.
With the advent of the recent explosion of the commercial space sector, Dan is developing intelligence solutions for decision-makers, investors and research analysts through the automated analysis of satellite images to characterise both operational and market trends at scale.
