Join Young Profesionals in Energy, Twin Cities as we volunteer to pack food for those in need at Second Harvest Heartland. We will begin packing at 6:00pm, but please arrive around 5:45pm to get checked-in.

Parking:

• Parking available in front of our entrance (Suite 1700), northwest corner of building.
• Overflow parking in the back of the building, opposite truck docks.
• Please do not park in spaces reserved for other building tenants.
• Consider carpooling with other group members.

Arrival:

• Plan to arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of your volunteer shift. That will give you plenty of time to check in, hang up coats and secure purses and jewelry in lockers.
• Orientation will start promptly at the beginning of the scheduled shift.

What to Wear:

• Dress in comfortable clothing, such as a t-shirt or sweatshirt and jeans or shorts.
• You MUST wear closed toe shoes - no sandals! Any volunteer who arrives without closed toe shoes will be asked to wear shoes that we will provide.

Food Safety:

In order to ensure that the food you pack is safe and suitable for our clients, we ask the following:

• Do not plan to volunteer with us if you feel ill. We'll be glad to help you reschedule when you feel better.
• Due to food safety regulations, we have a strict "no jewelry" policy. Upon arrival, you will be asked to remove all jewelry including piercings.   If you are unable or unwilling to remove your jewelry, you will not be able to participate.  We recommend you leave all jewelry at home.  Thank you for upholding our food safety guidelines.
• You can bring your phone or camera into the warehouse as long as it can be stored in your pocket.

For your safety and comfort:

• If you or somebody in your party needs to sit for the shift, we have stools without backs available. If multiple volunteers will need to be seated for volunteering please contact usvolunteer@2harvest.org
• Second Harvest Heartland advises volunteers with food allergies to exercise caution when determining whether or not to participate in food packing. The day of the shift we are able to provide a complete list of ingredients for our products, but we cannot guarantee the environments of our ingredients' manufacturing. We will not know what your group will be packing prior to your volunteer shift.
• At our Golden Valley location, the minimum age to volunteer is 8. Youth under the age of 8 are not allowed in the warehouse for safety reasons. Also, we do not permit volunteers to wear a baby carrier while packing food.
