YPE Hike at Roberts Regional Recreational Area (East Bay)
Get outdoors with fellow members of the Young Professionals in Energy community. Fun opportunity to meet new friends in the energy space while exploring the Bay.
This will be a beautiful ~3 hour hike in the redwoods. We’ll hike at Roberts Regional Recreation Area in Oakland (http://www.ebparks.org/parks/roberts)
Event Details
Date: Sunday, June 18, 2017
Time: We'll meet at 1 pm. We should be done between 4 and 5 pm, depending on the pace of the group and if we start on time.
Location: We will meet at the Redwood Bowl Staging Area parking lot on Skyline Blvd. For those who register, organizers will email you to confirm the day before.
Getting there:
-Driving. Driving directions are available on the park website. Please remember we will be meeting at the Redwood Bowl Staging Area parking lot (http://www.ebparks.org/parks/roberts). If relying on GoogleMaps, please note that cell phone service can be hit-or-miss when driving to this area. There may be a fee to park.
-Public transportation /Carpool spreadsheet. If you would like to offer / request a ride, or have someone pick you up from the Rockridge BART station, please enter that information here by Friday, June 16
More about the hike:
This will be a moderate hike that is 4 miles and should take around 3 hours. All levels are welcome, and we’ll keep a steady pace but will also make sure no one gets left behind.
We will start on the west ridge trail and then descend down the fern trail.From there we will take the stream trail to the starflower trail. Finally we will take the Madrone trail back to the redwood bowl staging area.
Registration:
A $5 registration fee will cover some snacks / go towards YPE.
*Refunds not available at this time. If you are unable to attend, you may transfer the ticket to another name.*
Attendees consent to the use and distribution of the attendee's image in future Young Professionals in Energy promotional emails and materials.
What to bring:
Most of the hike is shaded by redwoods, but there are some sunny parts.
Please bring water, hat/sunglasses, sunblock and any special snacks. Your $5 registration fee will cover some snacks, but feel free to bring anything you might want to have. We will not be providing lunch.
Be sure to wear footwear with good ankle support. Weather will likely be warm, but cooler in the shade. We suggest wearing long pants and to be aware of ticks and poison oak.
