PetroCap is seeking an Operations and Completion Engineer to work alongside PetroCap’s technical team to support PetroCap’s operating partners in all aspects of completion design and field and drilling operations. They will be responsible for tracking and managing costs associated with well completions and provide technical expertise during the evaluation of new opportunities. The Operations and Completion Engineer will communicate directly with our operating partners to assist in cost control processes and perform root cause analyses of current projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Optimize subsurface development by defining well spacing and best completion designs
  • Integrate subsurface data (i.e., petrophysics, geophysics, geology, reservoir engineering) into completion design
  • Work with Reservoir and Geology to identify key components for improving stimulation treatments to achieve the right balance of cost and performance
  • Benchmark and identify best practices used by other operators
  • Identify and promote opportunities for operational improvements and efficiencies
  • Review and quality check procedures and AFEs for operations on new wells, re-stimulations, clean outs, and workovers
  • Track projects and perform audit with emphasis on learning best practices (costs, techniques, etc.)
  • Evaluate stimulation companies and work to develop best in class vendors for PetroCap completions
  • Work closely with operating partners to ensure that key materials such as proppant, tanks, trucking, wire line, and water are available for PetroCap activity
  • Demonstrate strong presentation skills to effectively tell the technical story to the group
  • Assist in acquisitions by working closely with technical team to estimate the completions’ impact on reserves and project costs

 

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Chemical, Mechanical, or Petroleum Engineering
  • 5 or more years of experience in completions and production roles
  • Competence in creating completion designs in conventional and unconventional reservoirs
  • Proficient in fracture modeling
  • Extensive experience in the field directing completions operations
  • Strong contacts with service providers, contract supervisors, and completion consultants
  • Willingness to spend substantial time in field with operating partners during operations
  • Commitment to reducing and tracking costs throughout the entire life cycle of projects
  • Skilled in presenting to management ideas for best practices, reviews of past operations, and due diligence results of new opportunities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with Spotfire, ARIES / PHDWin, and Drillinginfo
