But few know Mr. Iannelli practices what he preaches in his personal life too, as he is dedicated to making his life smarter. After sharing with us an overview of how the UAE is doing in terms of energy consumption patterns and GHG emissions, he will share tips on how he is making his own home, transportation and consumption smarter by adopting a series of innovative ideas.
Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence (Dubai Carbon) was established on 18th January 2011, by an agreement between the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and UN Secretary General Ban ki-Moon.
Dubai Carbon is a 'Private Joint Stock Company' (PJSC) shared between Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), Dubal Holding and Empower. Dubai Carbon was established to capture a growing niche market, catering specifically for the transition to a low-carbon and green economy through the consolidation of knowledge.

Ivano Iannelli is widely acknowledged as one of the world’s foremost experts in the fields of Sustainability and Carbon Emissions Management. As a member of the Senior Management team of the United Nations and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he has managed important projects under highly challenging circumstances, in countries such as Afghanistan, Sudan, and Mozambique. His most recent notable achievements include the Yas Island Integrated Waste Management Plan and the Energy from Waste Heat project in Ras Al Khaimah.
