2050 Partners is seeking to add an experienced energy engineer to our team primarily to provide program management support for our role in the new California Market Transformation Administrator (MTA) program. As an Associate Director, you will support 2050 Partners’ MTA responsibilities, including determining the potential energy savings and total system benefits of submitted market transformation initiative (MTI) ideas and coordinating and synthesizing the input of the broader MTI team, and screening, scoring, and prioritizing them. In addition, you will provide ongoing support as a subject matter expert in the execution of the MTIs as well as providing market intelligence on technologies and practices for possible consideration as MTIs.  Your responsibilities may extend to assisting with project management and technical and analytical support for other 2050 Partners projects. Responsibilities Include:

  • Be a Trusted Advisor to our clients with an emphasis on providing pragmatic advice based on defensible data and analysis
  • Lead technical/engineering aspects of the MTI review, screening, scoring, and prioritization
  • Responsible for ensuring a consistent and even-handed approach to determining energy savings and cost-effectiveness scores across MTI
  • Follow up with MTI submitters, as needed, to clarify submissions
  • Ensure that all scores and scoring elements are well-documented and supported by credible data
  • Support coordination of MTI intake, assignment/dissemination, review, scoring and prioritization, including documentation and reporting of results
  • Identify and review supporting work papers, technical reports, and other legitimate sources
  • Provide technical support and guidance to internal MTA team and subject matter experts during review and prioritization process; troubleshoot/resolve issues
  • Support the development of draft and final disposition reports
  • Support the development and presentation of draft and final disposition report findings to our direct client, Resource Innovations, external MTA team, and MTAB
  • Support compliance with the MTA program rules

Qualifications:

  • Degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, environmental, architectural, or related field); PE strongly desired
  • 15+ years of engineering or work experience in related area, preferably including consulting and utility exposure
  • Significant, demonstrated experience working in the California energy efficiency program and policy environment including familiarity with CEDARS, California Policy Manual, DEER and CalTF eTRM workpapers, ET Coordination Council research papers
  • Experience with energy codes, including Title 20 appliance standards and/or Title 24 building energy codes, ASHRAE 90.1, IECC, and other energy codes
  • Experience conducting energy program evaluation and/or technology research desired but not required
  • Expertise in energy modeling, EnergyPlus, and experience with large-scale simulations, and data analysis and scripting a plus
  • Familiarity with the energy efficiency landscape at the national level including the work of ASHRAE, the national laboratories, and ACEEE
  • Outstanding analytical and conceptual skills
  • Demonstrated ability to write reports, technical papers, and provide technical presentations to knowledgeable audiences
  • Project management track record
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to adapt technical material for broader audiences
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience using Microsoft Office; strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to collaborate well with people at all levels within an organization
  • Confidence, enthusiasm, and humility
  • Willingness for occasional travel
  • Desire and ability to work remotely
