Description
Americans for a Clean Energy Grid (ACEG) is a non-profit, broad-based, public interest advocacy coalition focused on the need to expand, integrate, and modernize the North American high-capacity grid.
ACEG brings together diverse support for an expanded and modernized grid from business, labor, consumer, and environmental groups, and other transmission supporters to educate policymakers and key opinion leaders to support policy which recognizes the benefits of a robust transmission grid. ACEG is a 501(c)(3) organization with a 501(c)(4) affiliate.
The Opportunity
ACEG seeks a Regulatory Director to lead and proactively implement a regulatory strategy to support transmission development. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Regulatory Director will be a highly knowledgeable regulatory expert/leader with extensive experience working for or advocating before regulatory agencies, and an understanding of how federal agencies interact with each other and states.
This role will focus on federal and state regulators, industry partners, trade groups, and federal, state, and local government agencies, and you will be able to utilize your previous relationships and experience to have a strong personal impact on ACEG’s success. Provides direction and engages with multiple consultants and internal teams to perform analysis on existing and proposed regulations.
The Candidate:
The Regulatory Director lead the Regulatory and Siting and Permitting Committees, monitor developments at federal agencies, draft and supervise the development of comments to federal agencies, and advise the Executive Director and board of directors on how key strategies intersect with regulations. Ultimately, the Regulatory Director will have the opportunity to develop and advocate for cutting-edge policies that further the development of a modernized and reliable grid to benefit consumers. Key qualifications include:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of regulatory/policy-related experience with demonstrated results.
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school or advanced degree in business, environmental policy, or related field.
- Experience with transmission planning, transmission development, and/or federal or state electricity policy preferred.
- Deep understanding of regulatory matters relating to administrative agencies with jurisdiction over energy infrastructure, including FERC, DOE, and the Department of the Interior.
