The Senior Program Manager at GridLab drives thought leadership on crucial clean energy issues nationwide and implements technical policy solutions at the state level. The focus for this position is on leading technical assistance efforts and supporting clean energy advocates in state and regional grids, particularly through the “Clean Energy Futures” program, GridLab’s largest program that encompasses 50 percent of their budget. This involves providing expert advice, modeling, analysis, and policy support in planning contexts, engagement in regulatory activities, and spearheading transformative initiatives like the 2035 Report series.

The Senior Program Manager also collaborates with leading clean energy organizations to advance the transition to 100 percent clean electricity. The successful candidate will have an accomplished resume as it relates to resource and power system planning, as well as regulatory engagement and clean energy policy. This is a great opportunity to join a team championing clean energy particularly as it relates to the modernization of the U.S. grid, its infrastructure, and its technology.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Champion and orchestrate GridLab’s technical assistance projects, driving collaboration within their expert network and harnessing their specialized technical acumen.
  • Elevate GridLab’s engagement with RTOs, FERC, and NERC, fostering strategic partnerships and positioning GridLab as a pivotal thought leader in the energy industry.
  • Strategically broaden GridLab’s network of experts, tapping into diverse industry experiences and relationships to infuse fresh expertise and enrich the technical service portfolio.
  • Guide and actively participate in GridLab’s thought leadership work, crafting compelling education and outreach materials; including impactful issue briefs, technical analyses, and insightful industry blogs.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Possess an in-depth understanding and expertise in energy technology, markets, and policy, showcasing a comprehensive knowledge base that informs strategic decision-making.
  • Expertise in Integrated Resource Planning (IRP), with a demonstrated ability to critique utility portfolios, scenarios and assumptions.
  • Familiarity with managing power system planning projects, with awareness of the strengths and weaknesses of different tools and approaches.
  • Possess excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills, enabling the effective conveyance of complex technical information to diverse audiences, from stakeholders to team members and executives.
  • Operate as a proactive self-starter, displaying the ability to collaborate seamlessly with the Executive Director and the GridLab team to establish and execute strategic priorities that drive organizational success.
  • Excel in time management, project design, and project management, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality results within defined timelines.
  • Bring a deep passion for clean energy to the role, coupled with a keen appreciation for linking technical knowledge with policy and advocacy efforts.
