YPE Thought Leadership Event: A Primer on Distributed Generation (“DG”) Wind Power

Climate change and the need for stable electricity prices have led to the rise of a wide variety of alternatives to coal-powered electricity in the U.S.  One of the newest solutions to gain significant traction is distributed generation, non-utility scale "small wind."  Small wind provides numerous benefits to consumers in that it produces onsite energy, is eligible for tax benefits, and is cheaper and more efficient than solar in many locations.  Small wind also presents a number of unique challenges, including those related to siting, interconnection, and permitting.

United Wind, a Brooklyn-based small wind developer, has addressed the challenges of small wind through technology and ingenuity and is one of the only companies currently positioned to capitalize on the multi-billion dollar market for non-utility scale distributed wind resources.  Join us for a presentation hosted by United Wind's Jason Kaplan to learn about industry trends, financing and legal complexities, technical hurdles, and why small wind will be a significant part of our energy future.

Space has been generously provided by SIPA Energy Association at Columbia University.

This event will take place at the International Affairs Building, on Wednesday, June 15, at 7:00 p.m. located at Room 1512, International Affairs Building, 420 West 118th street, New York, New York.
